Instavia Software, an Instant Data Delivery company, posted today a new version 1.5 update of its dBeamer(TM) and dBeamer!DP products. The updated dBeamer(TM) and dBeamer!DPM include a reliability feature known as PAUSE-and-RESUME. When dBeamer!DPM is employed to recover large databases or millions of files from Microsoft Data Protection Manager (DPM), not onlly would the recovering files appear instantly at the recovering server and become immediately accessible by applications, the BEAMing (instant recovery) operation would automatically pause when there is network interruption. During the interruption, dBeamer(TM) would attempt to reconnect with the DPM server. After a set duration of failed retries, the operation would enter a PAUSED state. This allows the IT administrator to repair the network interruption issue and resume the data BEAMing operation from where it was paused, without having to start the process all over again from the very beginning.
While the operation is in the PAUSED state, file system requests for data that have not yet been recovered would be timed out. The processing of new transactions during this exceedingly rare double failure scenario would be temporarily interrupted. Upon resumption of the data BEAMing operation, the processing of new transactions would also be automatically resumed.
